Benefits of having volunteer teachers in remote schools?

In my perspective, volunteer teachers are important for remote village schools for several reasons. Firstly, due to lack of resources and accessibility these schools are unable to provide the quality education to the children.

The educational backgrounds, cultural backgrounds, international exposure, and open-mindedness of volunteer teachers are diverse. They often possess specialized skills or expertise that can benefit students outside of regular academics. For example, they may have knowledge in areas such as art, sports, music, or vocational skills. By sharing their expertise, they can broaden the students’ horizons and encourage them to explore their passions and interests.

Volunteer teachers also play a crucial role in promoting holistic development. They can contribute to students’ personal and social growth by organizing extracurricular activities, workshops, and events that focus on character development, self-discipline, leadership skills, career development counseling, and community engagement. These activities can help students develop important life skills such as teamwork, communication, confidence problem-solving etc.

Moreover, volunteer teachers can act as positive role models for students, inspiring them to set goals, pursue higher education, and believe in their own potential. They can instill values such as perseverance, self-discipline, and empathy, which are essential for both academic and personal growth.

They can offer guidance, encouragement, and emotional support, helping students overcome challenges and build self-confidence. They not only contribute to academic learning but also offer valuable opportunities for students to explore their passions, develop life skills,  discipline. Their presence and dedication can make a significant impact on students’ overall growth.

Teaching Personal hygiene – made school kids to brush their teeth and wash face, hand and legs with soap every morning and nail trimming on every Sunday. I hope they will continue this practice.
